Houston Food Fest 2018

Houston food fest 2018 was a foodie’s delight. With the number and variety of vendors, visitors were spoilt for choice. For an event in its second year, it was indeed very good.

The culinary diversity of Houston was on display at the fest and the organisers played up this diversity both in the food and live music entertainment.

Besides food and music, there were other family activities and interactive games. About 70 restaurants, food trucks, cafes and vendors were in attendance.

The Food Fest took place at Hermann Square Park near City hall on the 18th of August 2018 between 12 noon and 10 pm. It was a hot day with the temperatures in the mid-30s. Tickets were $10 at the gate.

The fest’s claim to showcase diversity lived up to expectations. There was gumbo, ice-cream, taco, ice cream tacos, funnel cake, funnel cake cones,

barbeque, burgers, vegan burgers, seafood, curries, bao buns, pizza, pizza in a cone and so much more. It is good to know that Pecan pie is the official pie of Texas and we, of course, enjoyed some.

Strangely our search for barbeque ribs was futile, my sister-in-law gripped about it all the way home. She said that’s the reason she came.
